Read Comment On Morphy Richards 48267 Fastbake Breadmaker Best Price

Bought this breadmaker as a replacement for a 1.5lb cookworks one.
It makes great bread, nice and light(for a breadmaker). Even the fast bake setting gives good results.
But it has a bad design flaw: The main graphite bearing under the pan was not up to the task and was completely shot after about 50 uses causing horrific noises as the toothed belt that drives the shaft through the bearing jumps. Reading other reviews this has happened to lots of other people. Being an engineer I stripped the unit (Less than a year old, but I can’t find the receipt, so no waranty!) and I have ordered a sintered bronze bush (£1.50) which I should be able to press in and believe should be a lot more reliable than the graphite one originally fitted. I would give it 5 stars for the breadmaking part, but -1 for the reliablility (Only one small part at fault but I don’t believe it was tested for longevity properly – not replaceable unless you have access to bearing pullers etc.
